Elternschmiede donates balls for the work of SkF at Körnerschule school

Fair trade balls for the children attending lunchtime childcare at Sozialdienst kath. Frauen e. V. (SkF)

Since 2014, the Catholic Women's Social Service Association (SkF) has been offering lunchtime and homework supervision for children in grades 1 to 4 at the Körnerschule in Schweinfurt. In addition to the full-time supervisors, many volunteers from the SkF are involved in helping the children with their homework in small groups or on a one-to-one basis. Many of the children with a migrant background make good progress during the school year thanks to this intensive support.

In the compulsory full-day programme, four additional classes are supervised by external SkF specialists during lunchtime.

To ensure that children enjoy physical activity as well as learning, the Elternschmiede was asked to provide support. The Elternschmiede is a working group of Local Agenda 2030 that offers various services to families with children. For example, every year it organises an outing for families and a lecture on current parenting issues. It sees itself as a network for parents and families in general and pays particular attention to parents with a migrant background.

The deputy chairwoman of Sozialdienst kath. Frauen e. V. (Catholic Women's Social Service), Ms. Inge Weigand, is also a member of Elternschmiede. She arranged for the donation of high-quality, fair trade footballs for the children in the lunchtime care programme and the all-day programme at Körnerschule.

The children were thrilled when the donation was handed over and agreed with Ms Lippert that exercise is just as important as studying hard.

The photo shows the representatives of Elternschmiede, Mayor Sorya Lippert with Inge Weigand, Deputy Chair of SkF, and lunch and homework supervisors Elena Volz and Eliza Gekhaeva, at the handover of the footballs.
