Catholic Women's Social Service Association in Schweinfurt celebrates 30 years as a care provider
Providing legal guardianship and advice on the topic of self-determined provision for the future
Even in the Roman Empire, society took care of people who were mentally ill or so-called spendthrifts. Even back then, it was considered important to support them, help them and provide them with care.
Over the centuries, this care system continued to develop until a new guardianship law came into force on 1 January 1992. There was a major shift in thinking about the position of the person being cared for. From this point on, the persons being cared for were no longer placed under guardianship. Guardians were replaced by carers. Those receiving care were now the focus of the law, and carers were tasked with acting in the best interests of those in their care.
The Sozialdienst kath. Frauen e.V Schweinfurt (Catholic Women's Social Service Association) has been active since the very beginning of care associations. For 30 years, we have been helping people shape their lives in a way that makes them worth living. We go through ups and downs together, always searching for the best solution.
The care association would like to celebrate this anniversary together with many interested parties. Therefore, the Catholic Women's Social Service Association is inviting guests to two lectures:
Tuesday, 29 November 2022 at 5 p.m.:
Supervisory work – how does it work?
This event is aimed at voluntary legal guardians and authorised representatives. The basics of guardianship law will be discussed, the areas of responsibility of a legal guardian will be examined in more detail, and the rights and duties of guardians will be discussed.
Anyone who has recently taken on voluntary legal guardianship, is about to take on such a role, or would like to find out more about the subject in general is welcome to attend. Experienced voluntary guardians who would like to refresh their knowledge are also welcome to participate, as there will also be an overview of the new guardianship law reform, which will come into force in 2023.
Tuesday, 6 December 2022 at 10 a.m.:
Self-determined provision – power of attorney, guardianship order and living will
A power of attorney for healthcare allows you to actively determine your own care in the event that you are no longer able to manage your legal affairs independently. One or more trusted individuals can be named in this power of attorney. Personal wishes and needs can also be expressed here.
The handling and use of a living will is also a topic of the lecture. The various options for self-determined provision are explained in detail in the lecture, differences are highlighted and active self-determination is emphasised. Anyone over the age of 18 is invited, as this important topic of provision applies to all ages.
Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity to talk to the staff of the support association and clarify individual questions in smaller groups.
