A unique day at the Böhm family's organic farm
As part of the holiday programme organised by the "Lebenswirklichkeit in Bayern" (Real Life in Bavaria) project in collaboration with IBF e.V., families from the Catholic Women's Social Service (SkF) in Schweinfurt enjoyed a special day at Benedikt Böhm and his family's organic adventure farm. The project, which supports families in actively shaping their reality and promoting participation in social life, offers participants a welcome change and valuable educational experiences through such excursions.
At the adventure farm, which was founded around four years ago and is the realisation of Benedikt Böhm's childhood dream, families had the opportunity to experience the topics of sustainable agriculture up close. The focus of the visit was on the topic "From egg to chicken". The differences between organic, free-range, barn and cage rearing were explained and illustrated in a clear and vivid manner. Visitors learned about the different types of rearing and what they mean for animal welfare.
There was much for the children to discover: they were allowed to feed the chickens and observe them up close as they hid in the bushes or crow loudly. The development of little chicks was also explained, giving the children valuable insights into nature.
In addition to the educational moments, there was also plenty of fun and games. A tractor rally and a bobby car race thrilled the younger guests. The day was rounded off with ice cream, which provided some welcome refreshment in the summer temperatures and rounded off a successful outing.
The "Lebenswirklichkeit in Bayern" (Real Life in Bavaria) project enables families to learn more about the everyday challenges and opportunities of real life in Germany through practical experiences such as this visit to the farm. It offers participants the chance to gain important experiences and broaden their perspectives. The visit to the organic farm was a successful example of how practical experiences can impart knowledge and bring joy at the same time.
