PM: Mini relief fund established specifically for elderly women

Mini relief fund established specifically for elderly women

With a Christmas donation of €350 from Hörwelt Hertlein, Sozialdienst kath. Frauen e. V. is setting up a relief fund for elderly women.

This year, Sabine Hertlein, owner of Hörwelt Hertlein on Rückertstraße in Schweinfurt, decided to make a donation to alleviate hardship in Schweinfurt instead of sending Christmas cards to customers, partly for reasons of sustainability and resource conservation. After a brief search, they came across the Frauenfachverband Sozialdienst katholischer Frauen e. V. (SkF) women's association. To learn more about the work of the SkF, Ms Hertlein and her employees visited the office and its counselling centres and discussed the work and issues addressed by the SkF.

This gave rise to the idea of setting up a small, unbureaucratic emergency fund for elderly women. Miriam Kübler, head of the SkF department, reported that older women who are excluded from all forms of support due to strict eligibility criteria repeatedly seek advice and assistance from the women's and family counselling service. And yet, in the current emergency, short-term help is sometimes needed. She reports, for example, on an elderly single woman who lost her purse at the end of the month and is now left with an empty fridge until her next pension arrives. The emergency may often only be temporary. In such cases, it is important to provide a small amount of temporary assistance in an unbureaucratic manner.

To support its work and launch this mini fund specifically for older women, SkF e. V. received a generous donation of €350 from Hörwelt Hertlein, which will be used in line with SkF's motto, "BE THERE – HELP LIFE".
