Schweinfurt Bands Against War donates to Ledward Children's Home

Donation handover on 2 June 2022

"Schweinfurt Bands Against War" was the motto of the charity concert that took place on Easter Monday at the Stattbahnhof in Schweinfurt. Around €3,770 was raised, as the regional bands Soul7even, Medici Twin Tub and Phoenix, as well as everyone involved in the concert, waived their fees and donated the proceeds from ticket sales and donations to a Schweinfurt refugee aid project.

After the concert, the two Soul7even singers Selena De León-Schmitt and Kerstin Dorsch, as well as Ingo Schäfer from KulturPackt Schweinfurt, set out to find suitable projects. "It wasn't easy to find a suitable recipient for the donations," said Selena De León-Schmitt. "It was important to all of us that the donations remained in Schweinfurt and helped Ukrainian refugees locally," Kerstin Dorsch continued.

Finally, attention was drawn to the "Sozialdienst katholischer Frauen e. V. Schweinfurt" (Catholic Women's Social Service Association Schweinfurt), which set up a children's home directly in the Ledward Barracks within four weeks, where Ukrainian children between the ages of three and six are now being cared for.

The chairwoman of the association, Elisabeth Maskos, accepted the donation and was delighted with the generous amount: "This will enable us to plan some enjoyable outings with the children. We also plan to hire a Ukrainian carer who can help with the language barriers."

Special thanks go to the supporters of this fantastic event: Carolin Glöckle (Glöckle Group), Tayfun Cenk (Workspace) and, of course, Hue from Stattbahnhof Schweinfurt and his crew.
