For 30 years, the Catholic Women's Social Service Association has been providing legal assistance and advice on the topic of "self-determined provision".
Even in the Roman Empire, society took care of people who were mentally ill or so-called spendthrifts. Even back then, it was considered important to support them, help them and provide them with care.
Over the centuries, this care system continued to develop until a new guardianship law came into force on 1 January 1992. There was a major rethink of the position of the person being cared for. From this point onwards, the person being cared for was no longer placed under guardianship. The guardian now became a carer. The person receiving care was now the focus of the law, and the carer had the responsibility to act in their best interests.
The Sozialdienst kath. Frauen e.V Schweinfurt (Catholic Women's Social Service Association) has been operating as a care association ever since. For 30 years, it has been helping people to shape their lives in such a way that they are worth living. Together, they go through ups and downs, always searching for a good solution.
The support association would like to celebrate this anniversary together with many interested parties. Therefore, Sozialdienst kath Frauen e.V. is inviting guests to two lectures:
On Tuesday, 29 November 2022, at 5 p.m., the following will take place:
Supervisory work – how does it work?
This event is aimed at voluntary legal guardians and authorised representatives. It will discuss the basics of guardianship law, take a closer look at the tasks involved in legal guardianship, and talk about the rights and obligations of guardians. Anyone who has recently taken on voluntary legal guardianship, is about to take on such a role, or would like to find out more about the topic in general is welcome to attend.
However, experienced volunteer carers who would like to refresh their knowledge are also welcome to participate, as there will also be an overview of the new care law reform, which will come into force in 2023.
On Tuesday, 6 December 2022, at 10 a.m., the following will take place:
Self-determined provision – power of attorney, guardianship order and living will
A power of attorney for healthcare allows active self-determination in the event that one is no longer able to manage one's legal affairs independently. In this power of attorney, one can name one or more persons of trust. Personal wishes and needs can also be expressed here. The handling and benefits of patient care are also topics of the lecture. The various options for self-determined provision will be explained in detail in the lecture, differences will be highlighted and active self-determination will be emphasised. Anyone over the age of 18 is invited, as this important topic of provision applies to everyone.
Following the presentation, there will be an opportunity to talk to the staff of the support association and clarify individual questions in smaller groups.
Both lectures will be held at the St. Kilian Parish Centre at Friedrich-Stein-Str. 30 in Schweinfurt. The lectures are free of charge, but registration is requested by calling 09721/209583 or emailing info@skf-schweinfurt.de.
The support association welcomes all interested parties.
